Course Information
Course layouts to change!
The front 10 holes with alternate teepads will still play the same making for a 20 hole course to become known as the Red Course. The Blue Course (roughly 5996 ft, with all pins in their shortest placements) will incorporate both the new and original baskets.
Both courses will begin from the same teepad (#1) and scorecards for each course are available at the sign near the parking area accessible from Dalles Military Rd. Baskets and Teepads will be marked with each course's respective colors. Please check the score cards for maps and hole distances.
The first major difference you will notice between the two courses is that Red #1 (214ft) and Blue #1 (451ft.) are thrown from the same tee pad. Essentially you will play Blue #1 as a combination of Red #1 and #2. Then Blue #2 is from Red #3's tee pad to Red #1's basket. The rest of the Blue Course will then play over the bridge, out and around the recreational trail and contiue back towards the ampitheater, where you will go back over the bridge and finish up on top of the hill back on the other side of the course.
The soon to be arriving "Black Course" is currently under construction and will demand respect! Can you say 6782 ft? News will be posted as work progresses.
If you would like to donate $$$ or time to the future development of our course contact either Scot or Bill. Our first goal is to raise enough money to put in the "first" hole of our Black course.
Thanks for your support. The Fort Walla Walla Disc Golf Culb is a non-profit organization and all income goes back into the sport and it's development.
DEDICATION OF BRIDGE, TRAIL AND NEW 9 HOLES TO BE HELD JUNE 21 AT FT. W.W. DISC GOLF COURSE
The public is invited to a dedication ceremony for a new bridge, trail, and additional nine holes of disc golf at Fort Walla Walla Park on Wednesday afternoon, June 21, 2006 at 5:15.
The event will begin with a ceremony honoring those who have contributed to the new facilities, after which those attending will be given an introduction to the game by members of the Fort Walla Walla Disc Golf Club, which will provide discs for the occasion. Other experienced disc golf players are invited to participate in teaching the game to new players.
The original course was established in the campground area of Fort Walla Walla Park off Dalles Military Road in 2001 after Walla Walla won the World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend competition among cities having no disc golf course. The ceremony will take place in the vicinity of the caretaker’s house in the old campground portion of the course.
The new nine holes have been installed east of the Fort Walla Walla Amphitheater. A grant from the George T. Welch Trust to the Community Recreation Coalition has provided baskets for the addition, and Koncrete Industries is contributing pre-cast tee pads.
To link the new nine to the existing course, construction of a new bridge over Garrison Creek has been donated by Majerus Construction, with engineering by Maury Fortney and construction materials contributed by Lumbermen’s and several of its suppliers, leading to a new trail established by the City Parks & Recreation Department. The Fort Walla Walla Disc Golf Club is working on new signage for the course, which it helps to maintain.
Come out on June 21, and invite your friends and family to join us for a celebration and introduction to the game of disc golf! To contact the Community Recreation Coalition, call Dan Clark at 509-522-0399.
